Exploring the GSX-S1000: A Lightweight Powerhouse with Customization Potential

 6 min read

Webike's Opinion

Here is a "SUZUKI GSX-S1000" custom by Webike community user "Gina". The owner was looking for a lighter bike with the same power as his previous GSX-R1100M, but with a high handlebar, when he came across the GSX-S1000. He debated between it and the GSX-S750. He was torn between the enjoyment of revving the engine and the roominess of the displacement, but he chose the GSX-S1000 because of its light weight and the shape of the swingarm. The GSX-S1000's high handlebar makes it easier to handle and ride, and since the engine is based on the one used in the SS, you can feel as if your body is being left behind when you open the throttle. The brake pads are DAYTONA Golden PadX Brake Pads. It has such good control that it feels like your fingertips are linked to the machine. The air filter is by SPRINT FILTER, a manufacturer that also supplies parts to Ducati. Compared to the stock wet filter, this dry filter can be cleaned with an air blower, making maintenance easier. The chain is D.I.D's 525VX3, a 3-piece set that includes JT sprockets for both the front and rear. While most chain and sprocket sets have aluminum rear sprockets, it comes with steel sprockets. Aluminum sprockets are attractive for their lightness, but when durability is taken into consideration, steel sprockets are the best choice. The stock side stand has been replaced with the one originally released by UNICORN JAPAN for the new Katana. This stainless steel side stand is slightly heavier than the stock stand, but its advantages lie in the beauty of its shape and the fact that you don't have to worry about rust. The front fender is a SPEEDRA carbon front fender. The twill weave glossy carbon design matches the tone of the other stock color parts of this bike. The shift arm is by BABYFACE and can be used without any problem with STRIKER Footpegs. The BABYFACE shift arm is thicker, and each part is more rigid than the stock one. Additionally, the machined parts are more attractive compared to the stock cast parts. The oil filler cap is made by YOSHIMURA. It has no compatibility issues with oil filler caps from other manufacturers, and it has a beautiful appearance in contrast to the familiar stock cap. In addition, YOSHIMURA has designed it for use on the race track, so the cap has a hole for wiring. Overall, this is a fun bike to ride, and with many custom parts available, it is also enjoyable to customize to your own taste.
