NINE GATE's SR400

NINE GATE is known for their comprehensive performance enhancements that consider not only speed but also comfort and the joy of riding. Presented here is a high-tech machine that showcases the meticulous workmanship of the shop in every aspect. Originally customized by Thruxton, this machine embodies the concept of 'visuals and performance that stand the test of time,' evolving from the universally popular cafe racer style common with SR customs to a high-performance machine that rivals current sport models.

First, let's start with the engine. Initially a 595cc engine, the builder, Mr. Hosoi, downsized it to 534cc, which he describes as the "most enjoyable and long lasting displacement for the SR." Despite the reduction in displacement, meticulous tuning, including cerakote coating in the combustion chamber and piston crown area, resulted in a peak output of 48.6PS. Considering that the current SR model has a maximum output of 24PS and the famed SRX600 Big Single Racer produces 42PS, you can see how exceptional this figure is. Furthermore, the overall uneven performance, such as overly strong brakes and stiff suspension, has been rectified to be more rider-friendly through maintenance and modification of each component. While maintaining its speed, the machine was refined to be stress-free to ride. It's not just about being fast or looking cool but it must also be comfortable, safe, and enjoyable to ride. It may seem like common sense, but by pushing this common sense to the limit and achieving it at a high level, a high-quality machine that won't lose its shine even after 10 years is born... This gem flawlessly embodies the builder's sincere custom philosophy, diligently realizing it to perfection.

Handle

The handlebars are made by SANSEI and the top bridge is made by BORE ACE. At first glance, it looks high-tech, but the stock gauges are used as the base, giving it an SR-like appearance.

Bodyworks

The front cowl is made by Thruxton, and the bracket is a one-off fabrication. An LED headlight for a Harley is used to provide sufficient light.

The bold yet simply designed undercowl is made by Thruxton, giving the machine a distinctly racer-like look.

The seat cowl is an original from Thruxton, which gives the rear area a sense of speed. Maintaining the racer-like appearance, it can also accomodate a pillion passenger, which is a notable highlight.

Chassis

The brakes are equipped with Brembo 4-Pot calipers paired with SUNSTAR 320φ rotors, significantly enhancing stopping power. The wheels have been replaced with 17-inch MAGTAN, reflecting a serious commitment to performance.

Brembo 2-Pot calipers and a GALE SPEED master cylinder have been installed, transforming the rear to a disc brake using all aftermarket parts.

The swingarm is by OVER, and the wheels have been swapped to 17-inch MAGTAN. With high-grip S20EVO tires, it creates a high-spec suspension for full-scale sports riding.
