Imposing Cafe Style : Honda CBX Custom

 5 min read

REMOTION's CBX1000

The CBX 1000 uses an inline 6-cylinder engine, a rare engine type that has only been used in a few cases in the long history of motorcycles. Remotion, known for its CBX customization, built this machine. The image of this machine was inspired by the cafe racer style seen in the overseas custom scene. The single seat, inverted front fork, and cantilevered swingarm give it a modern sports feel, while the spoke wheels give it a retro look.

The chassis is basically a transplant from the Ducati 1098. The bracket supporting the front forks was a REMOTION one-off. The seat rail was completely rebuilt, as was the rear shock mount, to accommodate the extra-thick cantilevered swingarm. The single seat was also newly made.

Intake & Exhaust

REMOTION offers a 6-6 stainless steel exhaust on the market, but this is a one-off made entirely of titanium on this machine.

The angle of the exhaust is a particular concern of the owner, and he really wanted it to be at its current angle. However, the side stand mounts were in the way. Therefore, the side stand mount and the link receiving part of the rear shock were removed and smoothed. A one-off side stand bracket was relocated to the engine side, and a Ducati 1098 side stand was installed.

Handle

The clip-on handlebars are by ZETA, and the digital meter is by KOSO, creating a simple cockpit.

Chassis

The front fork and other front parts are basically Ducati 1098, but the bracket is a one-off made by REMOTION in order to optimize the body posture and increase the length.

The tank is actually a stock item. Initially, the owner wanted to remove the paint and make it clear to the base metal, but since it rusts easily, it was painted in a color close to the base metal to give it a metallic texture.

The rear shock mount had to be newly built, and the seat was a one-off from the seat rail to give it a café racer look. The wiring was also neatly processed.

Kineo spoke wheels and Ducati 1098 swingarm installed on the rear. Naturally, it is not bolted on to the CBX chainline, so REMOTION made some minor modifications.
